Intermediate Reading & Writing 

There are two parts to the exam:

• Dictation (listen and spell key words correctly)
• Reading comprehension (read text and answer questions correctly)

1. Dictation

• pp. 117-118, “Happiness Is in the Shoes You Wear”, study all important words (not just the bold words)
• pp. 206-207, “2b or not 2b?”, study all important words (not just the bold words)

2. Reading comprehension

• pp. 121-122, “In Defense of Advertising”, read and understand the text
• You will answer comprehension questions
• pp. 212-213, “Social Networking Sites: Are They Changing Human Communication?”, read and understand the text
• You will answer comprehension questions

Advanced Reading & Writing

Part 2: for Adv RW (YCC1202-15), Adv RW (YCC1202-16)

You should submit four (4) stapled copies of the first draft of your essay on Friday, October 16, 4:00 PM Veritas Hall A, Room 218. Please remember that your midterm exam is also on Friday, October 16, 4:00 PM Veritas Hall A, Room 218. For your midterm exam you should know the definitions of the essay writing terms that are in your essay writing book and you will also be asked to write an introduction paragraph on a given topic.
